بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Ayah 1: The Oath by Time
وَالْعَصْرِ
Transliteration: Wal–‘Asr
Translation: By time,
Ayah 2: The State of Mankind
إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ
Transliteration: Innal-insāna la fī khusr
Translation: Indeed, mankind is in loss
Ayah 3 (Part 1): The Exception — Faith and Good Deeds
إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ
Transliteration: Illā alladhīna āmanū wa ‘amiluṣ-ṣāliḥāt
Translation: “Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds,”
Ayah 3 (Part 2): The Exception — Truth and Patience
وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ
Transliteration: Wa tawāṣaw bil-ḥaqqi wa tawāṣaw biṣ-ṣabr
Translation: “And advise each other to truth and advise each other to patience.”
